How to access the goal detail page
You can access the goal detail page by clicking on a goal title anywhere on the platform except from your user profile page. Thats it, click a goal title and the goal detail page will appear...
What is the goal detail page?
The goal detail page is a 1 page summary of your goal. Its where we recommend you work go to when you want to work on a goal.
You can see the goal's details and have full control of the goal, outcomes and tasks on the goal detail page. You can edit the goal details, add a key result, view the goal channel and send messages and delete the goal if need be.
Interactive charts visually summarise the goals progress, confidence and related outcomes' progress.
Goal activity shows goal progress and confidence at each update made to the goal so you can track these 2 key goal metrics over time.
And at the bottom of the page you can see the list of outcomes related to the goal and their progress and confidence. You can add an outcome, edit an outcome, view tasks related to an outcome and add more, cascade and outcome to a goal or delete and outcome. Opposite the list of outcomes are the tasks related to the goal.
Edit the goal
To edit the goal details, click the edit goal button at the top of the page. This will open the goal editor. Make the relevant updates and click save.
Add an outcome to the goal
On the goal detail page there are 2 places to add an outcome. The add outcome button is in the goal details section at the top of the page.
There is another button in the outcome section at the bottom of the page.
By clicking either of these buttons the outcome editor will open. Add the outcome details and click save. The outcome list will update immediately to display the new outcome.
Edit an outcome
To edit an outcome, click the edit outcome button of the outcome you want to edit. The outcome editor will open with the details of the outcome displayed. Make the updates and click save.
Cascade an outcome to a goal
Cascading an outcome to a goal is a simple process but it needs a bit of planning and communication with the owner of the new goal. To cascade an outcome to a goal, click the cascade outcome button.
The goal editor will open and be populated, adopting the outcomes name and details such as start and due date, status and function from the goal the outcome relates to. The new goal will also be nested in the goal the outcome relates to and the owner of that goal will be a collaborator on the new goal.
What you will need to do, and this is important, is re-assign the goal to the person who will be responsible for it. To do this, under re-assign goal, start typing the name of the owner of the new goal, and when it appears, click on it, then click the save button. The name of the new goal owner should appear in place of the owner of the outcome the goal was cascaded from.
If the new goal owner is a member of more than 1 you will need to update the team field to specify which team the goal relates to. So, if you can see the team field, you need to make the update.
Click save to create the new goal. You will see the new goal added to the goal stream.
Goal stream
A milestone goal will generally have other goals that relate to it. We call this nesting a goal. When you create a new goal there is an option to nest the new goal in another. This creates a "parent child" relationship between the 2 goals. This relationship is displayed as a stream and can be viewed on the goal detail page.
When you cascade a goal the new goal is nested in the goal that the outcome it was cascaded from relates to.
Add a task
On the goal detail page, the only tasks you can see are those that relate to the goal. You can view tasks due today, this week, this month or all. You can filter the view of tasks further by clicking the task filter button on an outcome to view tasks that relate to that outcome only, and you can filter by more than 1 outcome. Click the button once to turn the filter on. You can see when a filter is on as the button will be blue. Click it again to turn it off.
To complete a task, click the circle next to the task name. To view completed tasks click the arrow next to completed tasks. To hide the list of completed tasks, click the arrow again.
You can add a new task by clicking the add task button, and edit a task by clicking on the task title.
Add the task details and click save. Any changes made to an existing task are automatically applied.
Once the task has been saved you can access the checklist and activity feed. Comments made on the activity feed appear on the goal channel's feed as a system notification.
Theres a lot of details in there...
