Writing a good goal title can be difficult. And then choosing the right measures for the goal can also be hard. So to help you when you get a bit stuck, we've introduced artificial intelligence to the platform to help you write great goals and add the right outcomes.
Remember a goal should be qualitative, aspirational, concrete and specific.
And an outcome should be time-bound, aggressive but realistic and verifiable through measurement.
For more information about goals and outcomes, we've written a handy goals eBook that you can download, or you can visit the goals and outcomes section of the knowledgebase.
Get great goal title suggestions
The goal ai feature is available on the goal detail page. You can launch the goal detail page by clicking a goal title... if the title turns blue, click it.
Our recommendation though is as you work through your diagnostic results on the leadership curves, you can quickly create goals to address activities for focus on each curve. Once you have finished reviewing your results, head over to the roadmap module to find your backlog of goals.
In the example below, you can see a number of backlogged goals that have a brief title, enough to get an idea of the focus for the goal. We are going to work on the highlighted goal.
We've clicked the goal title and opened the goal detail page for this goal. Now click the goal ai button to generate 3 goal title suggestions.
Use an ai suggestion for your goal title
To choose a goal title suggestion, click the ai button in line with the title. Your goal title will be updated. For this example we're going to choose the middle option.
And our goal title is updated.
If you click the ai button again, you can build upon the new title to improve it further if needed.
How to get suggestions for your outcomes
Our goal ai also offers 5 outcome suggestions for you goal. Click the ai button in the outcome window to generate the 5 suggestions.
Turn a suggestion into an outcome
To turn a suggestions into an outcome, click the ai button in line with a suggestion. You can use all 5 suggestions, ignore them all or anything in between.
If there is a tick in line with. suggestion, when you click the save outcome ideas button, an outcome will be created from the suggestion.
Hey presto... now you have a goal and outcomes. But we're not quite there yet.
The measures suggested for outcomes may not be accurate. Don't forget, that all goals and outcomes can be edited. So if you like the suggestion, but the measure is wrong, for instance, the timeframe is 6 months and your goal has a 3 month period, turn the suggestion into an outcome, then edit the outcome.
Below, I have chosen to remove 1 outcome as I decided after further thought it was not relevant for this goal and edited each of the other outcomes to align them with my goal and what I feel are realistic and achievable measures.
So, 5 minutes ago I started with a goal title of "Fix vision and purpose to be customer centric". Now I have the following goal and 3 outcomes:
Develop a customer centric focus to improve the way we do business.
- Within 3 months, reduce customer complaints by 10%.
- Within months, increase customer satisfaction ratings by 5%.
- Within 3 months, develop and implement a new customer service strategy that includes regular feedback loops and input from customers.
